T.W.A.S.

Inquiry - Everyone is now building their bridge.  We are finding the most challenging parts are attaching the pillars to the bridge keeping the sand in the columns.  Some students are adding sand to their columns to make them heavier so the wind won't knock them down.  When we tested materials before Christmas we saw that filling a column with a smaller material worked better than larger materials.  After building (and while building) students are testing their bridge for weight, wind, stability, and aesthetics.  We will be wrapping up building next week.

Writing - We are starting to write our beginning paragraph of our animal legend.  We are writing these on Google Docs and you can see student work there!

Math - We worked on word problems using multiplication and division this week.  Ms. Rutland also showed us a trick for the 9-times table (ask me to share!).

Buddies - Today we played a new math game with our Grade 1 Buddies using adding and subtracting.  Ask me how to play (the page is below!)

Next Week:
- No school on Thursday or Friday or the following Monday
- Valentines Day is Wednesday.  See earlier blog post for list of names.
