T.W.A.S.

This week at school:

In Art - we made a flag of the country we studied using pointillism (dot art).
In Inquiry - we finished making our 3D maps of the 4 countries (plus 1 province - Alberta).  We have also been examining quality of life in different countries.  We read two stories about children, one from North America and one from Brazil.  We decided that the child from Brazil actually had a better of quality of life because he had a close family, he had wholesome food, and.  The 4 main areas for quality of life are: safety and security, comfort, happiness, and health.
In math, we have started learning about fractions.  Fractions are like division because we are splitting into groups.

Next Week:
- Student-Led conferences are next week.  Please book with Ms. Rutland if you haven't already done so
- There is no school next Friday
- Spring break is from March 23-April 2.  Return on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Volunteers Requested

Hello Royal Oak School Parents and Guardians! Your son and/or daughter will be bringing home a letter soon telling you about our Skating Activity that will take place March 14, 15 and 16th. We are looking for several volunteers to help with tying skates, assisting on the ice, walking with classes from the school to the outdoor rink and helping with the skate shack. We are very fortunate to have booked the KidSport skate shack and we will need a few volunteers organizing and managing the skates and helmets. If you are available to help out during this activity please email Keri Blakeney at rosvolunteers@gmail.com for more information.
Thank you for supporting our Physical Education program!!

Ms. Rutland's class is skating on Wednesday, March 14 from 10:00-10:40 and on Thursday, March 15 from 11:20-12:00.  If anyone is available to help, we'd really appreciate it!

T.W.A.S

TWAS:

- Wednesday was Pink Shirt Day!  Please read my Friday Journal to hear all about it!

- Ms. Rutland gave us a math assessment in multiplication and division.  Ask me how it went!

- We are working REALLY hard on our Weaselhead stories.  Please read my story this weekend.

- In Art, we started designing a Pysanky Egg.  Decorating Pysanky Eggs is a tradition in Ukraine at Easter.  Real Pysanky Eggs can be any egg including ostrich, ducks, goose, or chickens.  They blow out the yolk and use a stick to paint pure beeswax and dye carefully on the eggs, decorating with lots of details.

Reminder: The blue Bouldering Permission Form are due Monday!

Volunteer Requested
- If anyone is available next Tuesday afternoon, we would love a class volunteer.
